DHCP reservation, static IP, custom.list, local.list and hosts file

Dear Pi-Hole Team,

First of all, let me explain how happy I am since I use PiHole. Upgraded from version 4 to 5 in no more than 10 minutes, whaou, just incredible !

May I ask for some explanation on best way to do DHCP reservation for LAN devices with DNS name association ?

I added the name of the devices in the new "Local DNS records" section, which add the entry to the custom.list file as expected, but the name is only resolved on the PiHole server itself ... None of the DHCP clients can resolve the DNS names ...

Of course, when adding the devices names in the /etc/hosts file, all the DHCP clients can resolve the names ...

Can we conclude that the custom.list file is not use in the right way ?

Then something is wrong here. Adding domains (hostnames) via "Local DNS records" should make them available to all devices in your network using pihole as DNS server.
