DHCP: is it possible to take out a static IP, in order to change the name and/or IP address?

Some times I need to release an assigned static IP address in order to change the IP (or name) of the device.

For now I have to assign it, then go to the device turn it off and then on again, or reboot the router. Is it possible to have a function as in subject?

You would always have to power cycle the device in question (or at least restart the networking interface) and restart the DHCP server. There is no way of doing this "on the fly".

I see, well this is what I was trying to avoid, but I guess is not possible to "kick out" a device from DHCP
