Devices with the same Host Name show up as "unknown"

Expected Behaviour:

Using Pi-Hole as the DHCP server - See the host name along side the IP of all devices that use/ have same host name.

Actual Behaviour:

It seems that any devices on my network that have/ share the same host name will only show one IP with the host name and the other IP's with just "unknown".

For insistence. The Sonos gear here (6 devices) all use SonosZP as the host name; only one IP address will show SonosZP while all the other IP's will show as "unknown". This is the same for my Nintendo Switch. If its in one of two the docks (Ethernet) or via WiFi only one device shows up as "Nintendo" the other two "unknown".

Debug Token:

undfm0atkl!

Extra:

Not sure if this is just limitation of the DHCP server or an actual issue

When I use pfSense as a DCHP server it would show all IP's with the host name regardless if they were the same.

This is also the same issue if i map a static ip or not on the pihole.

I can't change the host name of the Switch or Sonos unfortunately.

Cheers.

What I have done with my Sonos gear is to assign each device a static/reserved IP address and name using DHCP. This solves the name issue and it also solves a bug in the Sonos system that causes random crashes and grief during system updates or recovering from power outages.

Thanks @Stan-qaz. In the static/reserved IP do you just give them each a different name or are they all called SonosZP?

They each need a different name, I use ZP-LR, ZP-BR, P5-K, P5-BR and the like.

Cheers, I'll give it a go.

I have a similar setup with my Sonos. In my hosts file they appear as follows:

192.168.0.114 Sonos5L
192.168.0.115 Sonos5R
