Devices on network lose IP(v4) address after switching DHCP from router/modem to Pi-Hole

@jfb : just opened /etc/hosts and the line 127.0.1.1 is in there indeed:

The IP of the raspberry pi / pihole on the network is 192.168.1.2, so is that what should be there instead?

I'm a bit surprised the 192.168.1.60 is still mentioned. I'll dig in the dnsmasq files...

This is expected. The problem is that the device at IP 1.60 has the same name.

The problem seems solved, here are the steps I've taken:

  • added the Pi-Hole's own IP in the static IP list on the pi-hole
  • chose the exact same IP range on the pi-hole as on the router

After doing these two things, both the router AND the Pi-Hole had DHCP enabled in parallel (which I understand is a no-no, yet still...) and some of the traffic used the Pi-Hole, which gave me some confidence.

Then an hour ago or so, I disabled DHCP on the router and so far so good.
