Device's hostname not recognized

Hi,

I have a problem with a couple of rpi4, piOS.
The setup is:

  • Router
  • Pihole (DNS, DHCP)
  • Clients (both WiFi and connected)

Mostly all of the other devices get recognized and shown in the query log as clients. Both dynamic and static DHCP devices.
A couple of riPI's do not get recognized (they shoq up with their IP in the logs), nor can get pinged by their hostname, as if they were not in the system.

How can I debug/fix this behiviour?

Send reverse lookups for such an IP address to both your router as well as to your Pi-hole and check whether that would return a name.

I think I solved assigning the proper domain in /etc/hosts (and rebooting).
In some minutes they got properly recognized.
