The issue I am facing:
My CasaOS Pi-Hole Docker app is not working. I called Netgear Tech Support and they say disabling the DHCP on the Netgear Genie app cannot be done. Additonally, they say I need to configure Pi-Hole with a Static IP for it to work.
Details about my system:
Raspberry Pi 4B 8GB Ram running CasaOS with Pi-Hole docker installed. I have a C7000v2 Router/Modem combo unit and 9 devices attached. However, for test purposes I only have a Windows10 PC and a Raspberry Pi connected to the C7000v2 Router/Modem.
What I have changed since installing Pi-hole:
I have disabled the DNS setting in my C7000v2 Router/Modem to Pi-Hole 192.168.0.15 IP address. I also attempted to disable the DCHP setting in Netgear Genie and when I hit APPLY button it displays this message:
Please change your computer IP address manually if LAN IP subnet will be changed
When I hit the OK button the result is I lose all internet connection. The only way to fix this problem is to do a full FACTORY RESET on the router which I have already done 5 times.
Can anybody in the community please point me to instructions that can get me pass the brick wall I have hit?
Is Netgear Tech Support correct about configuring Pi-Hole with its own Static IP? They tell me I need to configure Pi-Hole with its own custom IP number, Subnet Mask and Gateway number before I disable the DHCP in Netgear Genie. Otherwise, I will lose internet connection. Is Pi-Hole designed to support such configuration parameters?
Lastly my Pi-Hole docker has an IP that looks similar to this: 192.168.0.15:24562. How is the number following the colon symbol need to be configured into the router? Because the Netgear Genie app only accepts standard formatted IP addresses.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
