Can't upgrade Pihole

Please follow the below template, it will help us to help you!

If you are Experiencing issues with a Pi-hole install that has non-standard elements (e.g you are using nginx instead of lighttpd, or there is some other aspect of your install that is customised) - please use the Community Help category.

Expected Behaviour:

pihole -up that would then update to the current version.

Actual Behaviour:

I can't update my Pihole from v5.16.2 to current version. I get this Error: Unable to update package cache. Please try "sudo apt update"
sudo apt update states: The repository 'Index of /debian buster-backports InRelease' is not signed.

Debug Token:

Your debug token is: https://tricorder.pi-hole.net/T3uCaywa/

This is an OS level error. Until apt-update completes normally, the Pi-hole installer will not continue.

I recommend that you visit the forums for your OS (Raspbian 12). After you resolve the issue and apt-update completes normally, then run the Pi-hole update again.

As a side note, Buster reached end of life back in June. You may want to think about upgrading to the current bookworm.

Why are you using Buster backports repository with Debian 12?

As explained above, Debian 10 (Buster) is not receiving updates anymore, but your Debug Log shows you are running Debian 12 (Bookworm).

Maybe you upgraded from Buster, but you probably need to remove these backports repositories, as they are probably not needed with your current OS.
