I hope, you guys are still here for just a little bit more...
The above setup seems to be working with no issues. However, I wanted to double check the traffic in Wireshark and I can't seem to see any traffic between my pihole (now with unbound) and any DNS server outside my house. The only relevant traffic I can see is when a host on my home network asks pihole to resolve a domain name and the reply, like this:
I think what I see is correct here, as I can see my 101 host asking for name resolution and it gets it. However, the problem here is that I don't see any traffic between the pihole and an upstream DNS server.
I would like to believe that it is only a setting in Wireshark, but I don't know what. If I remove all filters I can see all kinds of traffic to/from the outside world, but not the encrypted DNS queries.
Any idea where I lost it...?
