Cannot resolve host names

Hi Guys,
I'm really enjoying the ad blocking however I'm suffering similarly with (seemingly) a lack of resolution on my local network. Unfortunately this has extended beyond my PiHole console to my Sonos devices which are now unable to resolve the name of our NAS drive for local library streaming.
I've read some information on here about altering the DNS suffix for the local lan and using the settings within the console for conditional forwarding which I have done. If I tail the pihole log I can see the requests going over the to my router (which is running DHCP) but I can't see anything meaning full coming back. Strangely my
Windows (win10) PC is able to ping my NAS by name even after a ipconfig /flushdns but I'm not really sure how its managing to do this. But no such luck with Mac or my Sonos devices.
Surely there is a better option to this other than filling the host file?

Like here... What is the CORRECT way to get local hostname resolution without pihole as DHCP?

Anyone know of a guide to work through these issues?

Thanks.

Have you considered using the Pi-Hole for DHCP services?

It worked until Update 4.0. Plz stop to tell everyone with this problem to use pihole as dhcp or manualy edit every day the host file... we dont want this! The team should just fix this big bug...

We are not aware of a bug related to this issue. So, I've split this to a new thread and we'll see what we can do to identify and resolve the issue you are seeing.

Please generate a debug log and post the token.

Also, please provide some specifics for what you are seeing - screen shots of your dashboard or query log, etc.

I'm also unaware of a bug, but we're happy to help work through the issue with you.

Same problem for me, since i updated i'm getting ip address instead of hostnames

This is also not working for me anymore, whereas before it was working well.
I use my fritzbox as DHCP server on 192.168.181.1, domain fritz.box
Never forward non-FQDNs [x]
Never forward reverse lookups for private IP ranges [x]
Use Conditional Forwarding [x]

I can reverse lookup the hostname for the ip at my fritzbox on the pihole

dig -x 192.168.181.52 @192.168.181.1
