Can I use my Raspberry Pi like usual while having Pi-Hole up and running?

Hi

Quick Questions.
Im thinking about buying a RPi. I'd like to have it running 24/7 because I have certain applications that I need to be running all the time. For this I need to be able to access them via GUI, like you would with any desktop Linux distro.

My questios are:

  • Can I install Pi-Hole and simultaneously use my RPi like I would use any other Desktop-PC? (not heavy use, checking a few things every now and then)
  • Does the RPi use the Pi-Hole too? Like, when I open Firefox and visit webpages, will ads be blocked too?

Thank You

The Pi-hole will be your DNS server, so it will need to be running 24/7 for your network. The installer should set things up so that the Pi-hole device uses itself for name resolution so if you use the RPi as a workstation it should also benefit from the blocking.
