I'd like to take my filters from u block origin and add them into my pi hole. Is that possible?
No. Pi-hole is a domain blocker, and is not aware of any path elements on the URL.
URL: https://cnn.com/news-for-today/story-1/index.htm
protocool: https://
domain: cnn.com
path: everything after the domain.
Pi-hole gets a request for the domain. It either blocks it per your blocking rules, or provides the IP. Pi-hole does not see any of the subsequent traffic to that domain, including any path or content details. It simply provided the IP to the requesting client.
Can I block subdomains without blocking the website?
eg, can I block movies.cnn.com without blocking cnn.com?
Yes..
Yes. Add movies.cnn.com to your blacklist. That domain will be blocked, but cnn.com will not be blocked.
