Expected Behaviour:

a way to block vpn apps on ios and android
I use pinole also, besides adblocking, for blocking access to certain sites. With a simple vpn, like urban on, hide.me etc etc. pinole gets avoided as dns

Actual Behaviour:

Block access to all other dns servers, except the pihole dns

If a client device is running a VPN client, the normal behavior is that the VPN client routes DNS traffic within the VPN tunnel to a DNS service provided by the VPN service. This is done to prevent DNS leaks (DNS traffic outside the VPN tunnel).

There are no Pi-hole settings that can change this. If there is a setting on the VPN client that lets you use a DNS other than the VPN service, and you are willing to accept the DNS leak, then change that setting on the client.
