Is it possible to block ads on Viber desktop?
Do you see corresponding queries in your Pi-hole's query log?
Now that you mentioned it, I looked at the queries and I do see a query that resembles ads. However, below adding this link to the blacklist, I noticed the ad didn't show up. It seems random that the ads would show up.
After any rate, I have added to the blacklist and will see if the ads will pop up.
I strongly object to the imposing ads that now display on Viber desktop. Whilst in the middle of communicating with family and friends, the video's pop up in the bottom left hand corner. They are most distracting and highly irritating. And every so often the sound comes on. This is unacceptable! This type of advertising must surely put many people off Viber. I am certainly on the verge of uninstalling Viber for good. There are plenty of other options. I hope Viber management will look in to this matter.
To block these ads (and remove ads panel at the same time) open your hosts file (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts) and add following entry:
127.0.0.1 ads.viber.com
No need when you use Pi-hole! Just add it to the blocklist there
