YouTube Ads Getting Through

Recently installed Pi-Hole and so far it's doing a pretty good job. However, I'm still seeing YouTube Ads both on desktop and the mobile app. I've blacklisted these domains, but ads still get through.
From what I've read on here, it seems that blocking YouTube ads via Pi-Hole can be hit and miss due to the fact that there are so many constantly changing ad domains that Google uses, correct?
Just want to make sure that I'm not missing anything. It blocks most other ads just fine, so I believe it's setup correctly.

Here's an example video that shows ads even with those domains blacklisted.

(I'm using a RPI2, the latest Raspbian Jessie Lite, and OpenDNS as my upstream DNS server.)

It's definitely hit or miss. The thread on blocking YouTube ads is extensive. It's challenging to block since the ads are served from the same domain as the legitimate content. There are several possible solutions users have provided in that thread.

Ok, thank you. I tried out this user provided list, but ads are still showing. I suppose the best solution would be to use uBlock Origin as well (I was hoping I could leave it disabled now :stuck_out_tongue: ). Sounds like I'm mostly out of luck on iOS though.

Just curious, is this the case for most other people as well?

YouTube is definitely hit or miss.

The methods I use from here and reddit:

adlist

wildcards

dnsdumpster method

Does the DNSDumpster method seem to work?

I think the combination helps, but still isn't perfect

I'm having good results with the following RegEx blacklist, eliminating the need to identify each add before adding the to the blacklist:

^([A-Za-z])[0-9]-+[A-Za-z]+-+[0-9]+[A-Za-z0-9]-+[A-Za-z0-9]+.googlevideo.com
