Whitelisting recomendation

If I want to whitelist Every sub behind lets say spotify.com would be great i i could type in
*.spotify.com (this methode is used in many other adblockers) and it would just block every sub

If I'm not mistaken, isn't this already a feature?

I just did it didn't work

Oh yeah, I just checked, doesn't work. I swear I've seen that in a changelog before. Would be a great feature

yeah makes blocking and whitelisting so much easyer

Found it, you can wildcard a domain from command line

pihole -wild (domain to wildcard)

For example:

pihole -wild googleadservices.com

Or you can do it from the interface, type in the domain and instead of just pressing enter, press 'Add (Wildcard)'

if i go over the interface do i have to type -wild googleadservices.com ?

No from the web interface you go to the blacklist (or whitelist) and type in googleadservices.com
then press the 'Add (wildcard); button :wink:

Well if i try it in the commandline it still doesn't work :cry:

What did you type in?

sudo pihole -wild googleadservices.com

it gave me out that:
sudo: unable to resolve host pihole
::: Adding googleadservices.com to wildcard blacklist...
:::
::: Neutrino emissions detected...
:::
::: Custom adList file detected. Reading... done!
:::
::: Using cached Event Horizon list...
::: 116204 unique domains trapped in the event horizon.
:::
::: Adding adlist sources to the whitelist... done!
::: Whitelisting 8 domains... done!
::: Nothing to blacklist!
::: Wildcard blocked domain: 1
::: Formatting domains into a HOSTS file... done!
:::
::: Cleaning up un-needed files... done!
:::
::: Refresh lists in dnsmasq... done!
::: DNS service is running
::: Pi-hole blocking is Enabled

quiet strange tho?

That worked. Btw, you haven't added 'pihole' to your /etc/hosts

change 127.0.0 raspberry to
127.0.0 pihole

and gooeladservices is already blocked, also remember to clear your DNS cache

ipconfig /flushdns (Windows)
and chrome://net-internals -> DNS -> Clear resolver cache on Chrome.

If you mean that you want to blacklist, then yes. It is already there

that is perfectly fine, but I agree that the wording could be improved on this.

Would be great if i get into som errors again😜

Currently we don't support wildcard whitelisting. We are still looking for a solution.

There's some default spam-prevention limits built into Discourse. I hope they aren't limiting you?
