Using DHCP nslookup for hostname can give two differtne results

Please follow the below template, it will help us to help you!

Expected Behaviour:

When I ping or nslookup the hostname of my pihole server (lappy) I expect back the local ip address of the server.

Actual Behaviour:

I randomly get back either the local ip address of the server or the global address of my domain.

Debug Token:

https://tricorder.pi-hole.net/r2urdt727b

I have a domain (lets say mydomain.com) lappy.mydomain.com is directed to my home network ip.

DHCP is off on my router, I have my pi-hole running on a server lappy with ip address 192.168.1.15.
I have reserved a static pi address for lappy.
lappy had an infinite lease on it's ip address.

When I look up lappy on other machines, at times it gives me the internal 192.168.1.15, other times it gives me my domain ip address for lappy.mydomain.com

Any thoughts?
