Have a read here about those predictable network interface names:

> [@Eth0 no longer default name with Raspbian Stretch (Debian version 9)](https://discourse.pi-hole.net/t/eth0-no-longer-default-name-with-raspbian-stretch-debian-version-9/4528):

> I've just installed raspian stretch lite (image 2017-08-16 [here](https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/)) and found the ethernet adapter name is now base on the Mac address, no longer eth0 by default. Since /etc/dnsmasq.d/01-pihole.conf references eth0 as the interface, following changes are required, reference [here](https://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/43560/raspberry-pi-3-eth0-wrongfully-named-enx): sudo nano /lib/udev/rules.d/73-usb-net-by-mac.rules You should find a line that reads: IMPORT{builtin}="net\_id", NAME="$env{ID\_NET\_NAME\_MAC}" Replace this line with: IMPORT{builtin}="net\_id", NAME="eth0" To prevent …

EDIT: I noticed on latest Raspbian, you can enable/disable this feature with the "raspi-config" tool under "Advanced Options".
