Trying pi-hole and my landline connection died

Hi

We have a Fritzbox 7590 with pihole loaded on a raspberry pi 4.

I am experimenting with the pi-hole and as far as I can tell it appeared to be working as intended, its currently off line.

I discovered that at the same time I activated the Pi-hole and pointed the router to use the it (by changing the IP address in Advanced Network Settings>IPv4>Local DNS server:…) our landline phone stopped working with a message on the handset saying to “check telephone line”.

We could only get the phone working again by calling our provider and getting them to sort the problem.

Has anyone encountered this kind of issue, have I made an error and-or are there any suggestions about how to or where to go to diagnose the cause of this issue?

Regards

What is your Voip provider? My pihole works with all Voip providers, besides Quality Analytics.

Alternatively, you could post a log of blocked domains here.

oops my bad, I wasn’t clear… sorry about that.

It isnt a Voip phone just an old landline phone provided via vodafone germany.

I have searched for reports of people having questions - problems r.e. pihole dsl and adsl connections but cant find anything, so I am wondering if it is something I have done.

Just for reference, to configure the router I used the doc at the following link Fritz!Box (EN) - Pi-hole documentation

I am not sure what the issue was (I couldn’t fix it) but it took vodafone a few seconds to reset the connection. I will look to get the block domains list and post it if it is still needed.

Thanks.

You probably won't find anything because Pi-hole can't interfere with phone lines.

My guess it: It was probably a completely unrelated issue, but coincidentally happening at the same time.
