Then apply the patch and be done with it. Or fork the code and do your own patching and maintenance of the patch.
Uhm, you need to do some more research before making absolute claims that just have no basis in fact.
That you have full access to the complete source code for.
And there we get to the heart of the matter, you don't care how it affects other users, you want what you want and nothing else will suffice.
In case the message is not clear enough, there will not be a temperature gauge in the native Pi-hole code. This doesn't need to be an endless discussion, it's not happening.

Pi‑hole v6 removed API_CUSTOM1 and custom metric support. Many users like me used this for temperature, disk usage, UPS status, etc. I would like a simple way to display custom values in the dashboard again. Specifically Temperature would be fantastic
Pi-hole never reported disk usage, UPS info or anything like that. Pi-hole is not a server monitoring system and information like that will probably never be added.
There was never any API endpoint called API_CUSTOM1, or API_CUSTOM or anything similar.
The temperature was removed and it probably won't be added again.
