Pihole stopping

I have been running Pi-hole on my server for several years.
The last few weeks the Pi-hole has stopped after a while and I have to run "pihole -g" or "pihole restartdns" to get it going again.
How can I fix this?

Ubunu 20.04 upgraded from 18.04

After I encountered this issue I have installed lighttp to see if that changed anything and I have tried to purge pi-hole and reinstall.

How did you notice that Pi-hole stopped?
How did those stops manifest themselves?
Have there been any consistently reappearing messages that alerted you to possible Pi-hole issues?

Thank you for the reply.
I noticed that pi-hole stopped responding to DNS requests.
I have not seen any messages regarding this.
