Name Server Order

Folks,

Simple question I hope.

Pi-hole effectively default settings with NS1 in router local Pi-hole address and NS2 my ISP nameserver.

Pi-hole has Google set for NS

So question is; is my ISP nameserver actually THIRD choice?

You should have Pi-hole as the only DNS server in your router, because clients might decide to use the ISP one instead of Pi-hole.

Does that not give me a problem if for some reason my Pi-Hole device goes down?

Perhaps, but you can always change the DNS to something else if that happens. If your router's DNS server went down (assuming it runs its own DNS forwarder), you would have a similar problem.

Thanks Mcatt12, yes, I suppose you are correct, the router could go down just as easy as the Pi.
