I've just been using Pihole and I find it an interesting software.
I would like to understand is there a section in the dashboard where I can control the devices that connect to the network? At home I use a cool PC and several smartphones. Can I view them individually?
Thank you all
I'll try your advice. Thanks so much for the reply!!!!
The clients are visible in the section but only with their mac addresses. I'm having a hard time understanding which devices the addresses refer to. Can you explain to me how to do it?
To find out the IP address or MAC address of a cell phone, go to Network setting / Wi-Fi setting. Click on the icon gear, under network details, you can find both the IP address and MAC address. Write it down and you need to enter it in the client list (in pi-hole settings) with device name, then click Add. Click Save when done.
Every phone setting may look different. Hope fully you will find it.
On a computer, click on the wifi or network icon and click on properties. Look for IP or IPv4 address and MAC or Physical address (MAC).
Your router also would show addresses, but if you do not know which one is which, you will have to go device by device anyway.
I found the mac addresses. I inserted them in the clients section and assigned the name (asus_5Ghz_wifi). But on the dashboard I don't see the traffic of the "asus_5Ghz_wifi" client.
Where am I wrong? I restarted pihole to update but still nothing.
I don't understand where I'm wrong.
You can use the query log (on Left, 2nd below Dashboard), Use Advance filtering, Click the client name in the client list drop down list or type IP address. These will filter and show you the traffic from that client only.
