When it comes to ad blocking I personally can confirm a well done job for pihole V6.
Thank you for all your work, code lines and documentation. This was and is exceptional.
Of course there are migration issues and wishes but I'm sure we're getting to it. Step by step, day by day.
Agree!!! I was using the beta V6 on my IoT vlan and was loving it more and more. And the V6 production did break some of my items. However, this is a 100% FREE ad and tracker and malware network ad blocker!!! I can fix my issues and also a reason you always create a full backup before any upgrade as anything can go wrong at any moment!! My issues were only my DNS settings tab. That's literally a few conditional and FQDN settings as I run an Active Directory domain on my network, and my custom fwd lookup IPs for 127.0.0.1:5334 and the ipv6 loopback up. Took 30 seconds to fix. All other settings stayed perfect.
Devs, thank you for using your free time to make the web a safer environment!!! Since I found pihole many moons ago, I've gone from a single pihole running on an old pi2 to run into my main network on a round robin cluster of 4 pihole VMs with over 1.2 mil lookups daily on each pihole and my IoT and guest vlans running off a cluster of 3 piholes, all behind load balancers and a VIP that does health checks. So when I update a VM or have an issue with one, it is auto removed and my network has no outage. I also run recursive DNS local on them to keep all lookups at my home so no one has my traffic data. And running 15 other lookup lists keeping over 1.6 mil blocked domains.
Pihole has allowed us to become independent for DNS!! Where only "nerds! Would deal with their own DNS systems at home and that wouldn't do any blocking. This has given The ability for anybody who can run basic commands and follow instructions to run their own secure DNS.
To all that just complain and scream the update broke everything you have, remember what is provided for you for free!!!
