# Issue with nginx

**The issue I am facing:**  
im not sure what the exact issue is but im attempting to set up nginx with my pihole. it seems i need multiple files such as /var/run/pihole-FTL.sock  
**Details about my system:**  
just a regular raspberry pi 4 with 4gb ram  
**What I have changed since installing Pi-hole:**

just did a fresh install

help would greatly be appreciated im currently trying to get into stuff like this and im extremely lost on this i will provide any needed info as quickly as i can

Why do you want to run a full webserver like nginx?

Pi-hole comes with its own embedded webserver (based on civetweb), so setting up a separate webserver is not required.

i have a couple of other things running on it aswell like jellyfin, so i want to swap the webserver to nginx. and i want to set up a reverse proxy. my understanding of this may not be firm so sorry for any misunderstandings

You can't.

Pi-hole v6 pages need the new web server.  
`nginx` won't be able to execute some of the functions used by the new web interface.

ok thank you for the clarification and especially the fast response time. can i still have the pihole behind the reverse proxy or is this just not doable

also does pihole still use lighttpd?

No.

Pi-hole v6 uses itself (the web server is embedded into `pihole-FTL`).

Yes.

Search for `nginx reverse proxy v6`. These are some examples:
