Hello. How does DNS blocklists work? I see this project list there, but I am so confused by it. I do understand how to add the list and apply them, but I do not understand what they are doing. Lastly, I would like to understand why ads are not being blocked like he were with my AdGuard in my Flint 3 Router.
I am running Pi Hole on a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B 8GB RAM. I already have it installed and setup.
List, M1, and M2 refer to the main site where the list is downloaded from and mirror sites. Basically, the content is the same between those links, just different servers.
As far as which list you need, just one of whatever category you’re interested in. Pi-hole can use Adblock or hosts I believe. You just need one.
This is just names the lists maintainer created to 3 different mirror servers where each list can be downloaded. "List" is hosted in Github, "M1" is hosted in Gitlab and "M2" is hosted in another place.
For each list, all 3 links will download the exact same list. They are mirrors.
You need just one list.
You need to decide if you want Ligth, normal, PRO, etc... then you scroll down to the links of your desired list and select one of the formats.
Pi-hole can read "Domains/Subdomains", "Adblock" and "Hosts" formats. The other formats are not compatible and won't work as expected.
