Distro Sugestion and setup?

Hi, I need to setup pi-hole server together with pi-vpn. Curently Im renting VPS with 2 core and 2 GB of RAM and dont see that it affect CPU usage ( Ubuntu distro ). But.. I must change location of my server and it will be from VPS directly on my home server. I can allocate 1 GB of ram, 10 - 20 GB of SSD, 1 vCore of Intel Q9550 2,83 Ghz. What do you suggest me as distro antiX-core ( lightweight and fast distro core version without GUI) or Ubuntu server. I tested it on Ubuntu and notice that ( htop ) CPU usage spike to 100% when loging via ssh and wathc htop from VM screen.

BTW: Are those antiX lightweight distro secure as Ubunti etc. ?

Thanx in advance

Grab a supported distro to avoid troubles:

https://docs.pi-hole.net/main/prerequesites/

antix was extrimely stable, Running them for half year without any problems. Every worked simple and fine. Just on boot throw message about writting dhcpd or dhcp error for assigning static IP, but I allready assigned static via router.

Let me rephrase that, if you dont run a supported distro, you officially wont get support from the mods/devs.
You'll have to rely on community support.
And it seems you have troubles already:
