Blocking "g00" sub-domain ad serving

#1

Has anyone noticed these sneaky bastards?

Check out the thread here https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uAssets/issues/227

requests look like this

tu9srvbirvvtmjqkcnrilm9wzw54lm5lda00.g00.ottawacitizen.com
tu9srvbirvvtmjqkcgluzy5jagfydgjlyxqubmv0.g00.msn.com

Anyway to catch this in pi-hole?

#2

Use wildcard block g00.msn.com and g00.ottawacitizen.com

#3

These types of domains are observed on www.popsci.com and www.chicagotribune.com

#4

It is used on literally thousands of sites. Not just those 2. They are examples. Check the link I posted.

#5

I dont see any ads on the sites.

#6

add a regex in blacklist GUI as follows, it blocked those sneaky ads for me:

((^)|(.))g00.

#7

Did not notice these ads but it’s good to know that they exist!

Added this just in case too!

Thnx guys!
