I understand a little bit more now.
Just to be clear, both unbound and dnsmasq(used by Pi-Hole) are DNS resolvers.
The title of this thread is misleading as dnsmasq(Pi-Hole) is already resolving via DNS against the upstream configured servers.
But unbound is no good replacement for dnsmasq as its lacking the DHCP service.
EDIT: You could have both daemons running on the same system but that would need a bit of hacking and doesnt fit in as a "Feature Request".
